Your monthly payment
Adding even a little extra each month cuts months off the loan. The free debt snowball calculator shows your payoff date — and the spreadsheet tracks it.
Free debt payoff calculator →It uses the loan amount (price minus your down payment), the monthly interest rate (APR ÷ 12), and the number of months. Longer terms mean lower monthly payments but more total interest — a 72-month loan costs far more than a 48-month one for the same car.
Put more down, get a lower APR (better credit or a credit union), buy a cheaper car, or — carefully — extend the term (which raises total interest). The biggest savings come from a lower rate and a shorter term.
